The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be l £51,633,000; reserve, £32,669,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 19 per cent. The notes in circulation total £39,934,000 ; Government deposits, £44,701,000; other deposits, £127,244,000; Government securities, £56,483,000; other securities, £100,889,000. Short loans are discounted at per cent., and three months' bills at 44 per oent. Consols are quoted at £56 2s 6(1, and war loans at £87 10s, £94 10s, and £70 ss. Butter is scarce. Australian and' New Zealand has been cleared till new arrivals are available, and quotations are nominal at the maxima prices. Danish is quoted at Manchester at 300s per cwt.
