The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be l £51,633,000; reserve, £32,669,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 19 per cent. The notes in circulation total £39,934,000 ; Government deposits, £44,701,000; other deposits, £127,244,000; Government securities, £56,483,000; other securities, £100,889,000. Short loans are discounted at per cent., and three months' bills at 44 per oent. Consols are quoted at £56 2s 6(1, and war loans at £87 10s, £94 10s, and £70 ss.
