■»—— '■ ANNIVERSARY SERVICES AND SOCIAL. . The anniversary services of the Mosgiel Methodist Ohurcii were held on Sunday last, when sermons appropriate to the occasion wero preached by Rev. W. Greenslade (Mornington). i'ho congregabioniswere large, and the choir rendered some excellent singing. Last night the annual social was held, when the church was crowded. Rev. Dr Pinfold presided. An attractive programme was submitted by Miss Green, Misses Renton, Kirk (2), Pinfold, and Paine, Messrs Henderson, and Armstrong, and Captain Tong. The choir sang several anthems. The accompaniments were shared by Misses Leary, Pinfold, and J. and M. Paine. Addresses were delivered by Dr Bedford and the Rev. A. Hopper, while the local ministers offered congratulations and good wishes on behalf of their respective congregations. The balancer sheet, showed a slight deficit, but the proceeds of the social should more than make this good. *■ The trustees dn their report stated that during the year many had left their mid6t, as the church's roll of honour showed. To all bereaved relatives and those anxious about their wounded relatives sincere sympathy was tendered. During the year eight names had l>cen taken oft' the trust one deceased, two resigned, and five removed from tho district. Three had been added. Tho ministrations of tho minister had been appreciated, as had also been his pulpit work. • The Sunday School and Junior Christian Endeavour were progressing, and in connection with the former, tho thanks of the church and parents were duo to Mrs Pinfold and her helpers. The finances were in a healthy state. Home and Foreign Missions had been well sustained, tho lattor showing an increase on the previous year. The choir had lent valuablo help during tho year. The congregation's best thanks were due to the conductor'—Mr Paine—to the organists, and Misses Leary and Bvoadley, to the ladies of tho Guild, and to tlioso who p-.id the olectrio light bill. Tho trustees passed a resolution expressing appreciation of tho work of Mr W. J. Maulseed (one of their Burhber), who had just loft for camp.
