WAR INTERCESSORY SERVICE

. monthly combined service of intercession under the auspices of the United Christian Council, took place in the Moray Place Congregational Church last evening The Rov. Clarence Eaton presided over the gathering. - After the reading of a portion of Scripture, prayer by Mr Eaton, and tho singing of suitable hymns, the Key. I. Sargmson (St. Clair Congregational Church) gave a short address, in which he referred to Jewisn history, to show that -while God used His chosen people to drive out heathen nations. He also had sympathy with the suffering and sorrow oaused' by tho strife. God did not rulo ,by deputy, and liad sometiling to frhow Ilia people by means of sorrow and suffering. Ho was sometimes terrible, because Ho was a God of love, lie had led His people through the wilderness to a promised land. The great sorrows that were being suffered at the present time should lift them to a higher plane morally and physically. At the close, of tho address several members of the congregation led the assemblage in prayer. The singing of the National Anthom brought the meeting to a olose.
