LONDON, August 23,
(Received August 24, at 0.5" a.m.) Mesopotamia official: We have cat ture-d Shahraban, on the left bank of tht Dia,la, and forced the enemy to retreat to the Hamrin hills.
Ib.e War Office announces that the Arabs conducted extensive operations and destroyed part of the railway northward of Medina, and captured Turkish posts. On more than one occasion they overcame sunerior forces. They killed 700 men and took 700 prisoners in the Maan district alone, capturing four guns. _ It is evident that King Hedjaz has definitely associated himself with the Allied arms, which is bound to embarrass our
•enemies. The Arab movement is apparently gain ing support, and is spreading eastward.
