FIRE ON BROOKLYN PIER

(Received Aug. 22, at 0.10. a,m ) Damage to the extent of £250,0C0 was done by a fire on the Brooklyn Pier. Spontaneous combustion is believed to have caused the fire, which spread to steamers loading for Europe. Naval gunners threw a quantity.of ammunition overboard.
