THE STOCKHOLM CONFERENCE
MINERS REVERSE DECISION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, August 20. Af, a private conference of the Miners' Federation a small majoritv reversed tho decision to send delegates to'the Stockholm Conference. The meeting recommended the adjournment of the discussion by the Labour party, executive of the peace memorandum until the affiliated bodies have had an opportunity of considering it. TRADE UNION CONFERENCE CALLED. ATTITUDE OF SEAMEN AND FIREMEN. LONDON, August 20. (Received Aug. 21, at 7.15 p.m.) The vote by the Miners' Federation was the result of Mr Gerard's revelation that Herr von Bethmann-Hollweg had informed him that it was Germany's intention to retain the forts at Namur and Liege with a large army, and that Belgium would not be allowed to own an army. A conference of trade unions has been convened. The Sailors and Firemen's Union has urged the Parliamentary Committee of the Trade Union Congress to take a referendum regarding the Stockholm Conference and also asking the Government consistently to refuse.to issue passports for delegates.
