MINING.

The secretary of tho Olrig Company reports a return of Boz for 5£ days' work. At tho Warden's Court at Hokitika, in connection with tho application of T. and J. M'Grath for a renewal of a water racc at Dillmans, Mr Murdoch said, in view of the remarks of tho warden at last sitting, ho would ask him to state a case for the Supreme Court to enable the point raised to bo settled, as there were a number of valuable mining rights in the samo position as the present ono. The question to bo decided was whether the decision of Mr Justice Cooper, in the case of M'llroy and Lousich, was still good in law in •view of tho provisions of "Tho Mining Act Amendment Act, 1915." It was quite possible; that when tho case came to the Supreme Court it would be agreed to have it removed to the Court of Appeal. The warden agreed to state a caso to tho Supreme Court.
