OTAGO MOTOR CLUB
Tho ordinary meeting of the Otago Motor Club was held last evening. The president (Air J. A. Roberts) occupied the chair. Mr John Bishop (clerk of the Peninsula Road Board) wrote that he had been instructed to draw attention to the sad state ! of tho main high road, and asking if the club could grant a donation towards tho oost of its upkeop.—lt was decided to donate £5. Mr Dugald Matheson wrote asking the club to use its best endeavours to get tho grade of the Deep Stream Hill improved by a deviation.—lt was decided to support the Middlemarch _ residents in the proposal to have a deviation made in the road. A letter was received from Waitahuna stating that larrikins had removed the danger signal placed, br the club' at Waitahuna bridge, and asking that tho club request the police to take action. " The larrikin element is very bad here," stated tho correspondent.—The secretary reported that he had written to the Tuapeka County Council, requesting it to instruct the Waitahuna constable to take action against any persons interfering with tho sign. Mr John Logan (clerk of the Taieri County Council) wrote stating that repairs were being carried out on tho Brighton road on the south side of the bridge over the Kaikorai Lagoon. It was decided to writo to the Superintendent of Police, drawing attention to the manner in whxsh the drivers of vehioles in Lower Ratiray street offended against tho by-laws, by not adhering to tho rulo of the road.
