We captured a series of heights, and repulsed counterattacks in tho Sloniku Valley. The Rumanians are obstinately attacking in tho direction of Focsani. We hold positions westward of tho locsani-Jud railway. MORALE OF ARMIES IMPROVING. OPIUMISM SPREADING. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. LONDON, August 13. (Received Aug. 14, at 7 p.m.) Mr Wilton furnishes more optimistic reports concerning tlhe Russian armies. Their morale is improving, and there is a cessation of wholesale retreats. He admits that the fighting efficiency of the armies is still an uncertain quantity, but optimism is spreading. MACKENSEN'S INTENTION. . AN OVERWHELMING BLOW. LONDON, August 13. (Received Aug. 14, at 7.15 p.m.) M. Marcel Hutin states that 14 new German, nine Austro-Hungarian, and four Turco-Bulgarian divisions have reinforced Marshal von Mackensen, who intends to strike an overwhelming battering-ram blow. i GERMAN OFFICIAL REPORT. Admiralty per Wireless Press. LONDON, August 13. (Received Aug. 14, at 7.15 p.m.) German official : We extended our gains southward of Trotusul Valley. We captured Pancui, overcoming a desperate defence. We repulsed attacks between the Buzen and the Danube. Our adversaries lost during July 34 bal- | loons and 213 aeroplanes; we lost 60 aeroplanes.
