SEVERE GALE IN THE NORTH
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. (Peb United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, 10. A very severe gale was experienced at Russell from 5 a-m. till midnight yesterday. Great damage was dono to launches, and also on land. One farmer estimates liis loss at £1000. The Russell Publio Hall was demolished. At Whangamumn men had a trying time in saving a "whale ship. / Considerable damage was done to factories, wharves, and jetties, and a quantity of whale oil was lost.
