Tho South Dunedin branch of tho Women's Christian Temperance Union held its usual monthly meeting on Thursday. The president (Miss M'Carthy) gave an account oi women's work in various northern centres, __ with special reference t-o the \V.U.T.(j. at Nelson, and the work of the Social Hygiene Society in Christclmreii. A return match played between the Anderson Bay Draught Club and the Hillside Club was won by tho former l>y 17 games to 15, 11 games bein** drawn Wins were scoured by the following playersAnderson Bay: J. Christie, ,J Ritlenberg (2), J. Shadraek, 11. L. Gill (2) J. Dixon 12/, J Faii bairn (4), N. W. M; cLean, 11. C'raigie (2), W. Kerr (21. Hillside: J. Beck, ,1. Pimley, F. Larkins (2), J. M'Millan (4), A. Henderson, T. H. Dent (2), 11. Withy (2), A. B. Stewart. A. Lamb. Tho monthly meeting oi the Mosgiel branch of the W.C.T.U. was presided over by Airs Pinfold. The secretary was in-s-tnictec! to write to Mr Stutham. M.P., congratulating him on the stand lie had taken in relation to the Ebzery case. Resolutions were passed that members collect funds for the supply of warm clothing for the crews of the mine sweepers in tho North Sea. Last month's meeting was addressed by Mrs Iliett (Dunedin and district president) on tho initiative and referendum policy and teveral departments of the union's -work.
