LIBEL WRIT ISSUED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. " SYDNEY, July 30. (Received July 30, at 11.5 p.m.) A writ has been issued on behalf of Lady Randolph Churchill, claiming £10,000 damages, against the Sydnev Truth newspaper for alleged libel in certain comments on the Barrett case. This is a case in which Mrs Cornwallis West was alleged to have used her influence first to assist' Lieutenant Barrett and afterwards (when, it was alleged, he failed to respond to her advances of friendship) to secure his removal and prevent his promotion. An inquiry led to the condemnation of Mrs Corpwallis-Wesfc, while certain high officialsj were held to have been more than unwise in allowing themselves to have been used in an official sense to perpetrate an injustice.
