Haig reports :—A morning raidi southward of Avion penetrated the enemy's ]>ositions on a front of 600 yards to a depth of 300 yards, aoid inflicted heavy casualties and much damage. We successfully raided a strongly-Held farm eastward of Costaverne, and repulsed an enemy attack north-westward of Cherisy. There was aerial fighting all day yesterday, the visibility being excellent. Our aeroplanes successfully co-operated with the artillery, and dropped three tons of bombs on aeroplanes, ammunition dumps, and railway sidings, with good results. Wo brought down 14 machines, including a raider from England. Nine of ours are missing.
