YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

Tho meotmg of tho Board of Directors of the T.W.C.A. was held on Wednesday, Mrs Horbort Wilson (president) in tho charr. Reports of tho work done during the month showed that tho hostel had accommodated 57 visitors, 27 permanent boarders being in residence ; 1521 lunches had been served in the Cafeteria, tho increase showing tho girls' appreciation of tho more varied menu, and of the comfortablo loungo and good fires which mado tho noon rest worthy of its namo. Tho girls' department (under 20) reported steady work in hearth fires, the average attendance each week being 130. In addition to their regular meetings, most of the hearth fire groups had had social gatherings at which they had entertained their friends. A basket ball club had been started in this department. Tho report of the general secretary (Miss Andrews) mentioned the successful season of tho swimming club, which had just closed. The Ked Cross Club had despatched a largo bundle of finished work to the Red Cross Society, and more had been received. Thirty-fivo now members had joined during the month, making The total to date B*B. There were 150 more girls using the building than in tho month of .Tune last year; £157 had been deposited in tho Thrift Club, making tho amount saved so far, over £550. .

has been received that tho T.W.C.A. in Hobart' hnd purchased a fine property, valued at £4000, for their administration binlding, and that tho Christchurch Association is onaning a new cafeteria in the centre_ of the city, caoablo of accommodating a largo number of business girls for lunch, and providing adequate rest and recreation rooms.
