VEHICULAR FATALITY AT ARTHUR'S POINT.
OHRIOTCHURCH RESIDENT KILLED. ■ OTHER ' VISITORS SEVERELY INJURED. (From Oon Ows Cobbespondekt.) ARiRO WTOW N, May .2. •' A serious vehicular accident occurred at Arthur's Point yesterday. A party .consisting of Mr and Mm J. IL Wear; of Ghxistchurch, Mr and Mrs Edward Penroso, of Wcllmgton, and Mr Robert Footo, of Dnnedin, left Queenstowia in a'trap for Arrowtown. When going .down a steep inclino to a small bridge neiir tho'.Arthur's Point Hotel tho horses got out of control, Tlio trap sti-uck the approach to tho bridge, and, the occupants wore thrown crut. Mr Wear was killed; Mr Penrose sustained severe wounds, on tho lioiid; Mrs Penroso, -severe injuries to the. back and' hip; . and .Mrs Wear had both arms broken and the left shoulder dislocated.' Mr Fdoto, who was driving, was severely bruised on the head and shoulders. The injiited persons aro in tho Franktoa Hospital. A i . — " : Our Queenstown correspondent states that Mr Footo is a tramway conductor living at 19 Market street, Dunedin. Mr Wear was a railway employee, 60 years of age, liv.ing a± 75 Queen street, Sydenham, Christchureh. Mr and Mrs Penroso live at No. 2 Hadfield terrace, Kelburn, Wellington.
