Tho golden wedding of tho Hon. Major B. Harris, M.L.C., and Mrs Harris, was celebrated last Wednesday week, at their residence, Epsom. Tho Oamaru Borough Council at its meeting on Monday night appointed Mr J. li. Burgess, A.M 1.C.E., Taihape, as electrical engineer to the council, to supervise the construction of the proposed electric light installation for the town.
On Tuesday evening the employees of Messrs Glendinir.g'3 warehouse presented Mr Claronce with a handsome marble clock as a token of their esteem on the occasion of his approaching marriage. Mr Roy, in making the presentation, spoke in glowing terms of Mr Meyer, who was a member of the Main Body and served through tho Gallipoli campaign. Mr Meyer suitably responded.
Mr C. Blundell, well known as the captain of the . University football team, .had the misfortune to break his ankle yesterday during the progress of a game on the North •Ground. Several other lesser injuries were suffered on the same ground. It is not likely that Mrßßlundoll will be able to participate further in tho game this season. The Rev. Father Falconer, who has been stationed at St. Joseph's. Cathedral for some time, leaves in the course of a day or two, on a health trip to Australia. Having recovered from a severe illness, he proposes taking a prolonged holiday before he resumes duty again. During Jiis sojourn in Dunedin Father Falconer has made many friends, who will wish him bon voyage, an enjoyable holiday, and a complete renewal of good health.
