Owing to the creation of the 4th New Zealand Infantry Brigade at the front out of the accumulated reinforcements; Colonel H Hart, D.5.0., 17th Ruahine Regiment, who left with the Main Body, has been made brigadier-general in command of that brigade. RED CROSS SOCIETY. ST. CLAIR AND CAVERSHAM BRANCH. The following articles were completed during April and despatched to the Dunedin Centre:—3 packets triangular bandages, 6 underveats, 5 packets many-tail bandages, 15 pairs day socks. 2 pairs bed socks, 8 balaclavas, 10 face cloths, 3 girdles, 4 antiseptic shirts, 50 roller bandages, 10 packets gauze sponges, 9 pairs pyjamas, 2 • day shirts. Donations 'aro gratefully acknowledged from the following:—Mrs Scarfe, Mrs Smithson, Mrs Daweon, Mrs Farrant, Miss M'Plierson l(honey). ANDERSON BAY RED CROSS. The weekly meeting of the Anderson Bay Red Cross was well attended on Tuesday, and a satisfactory amount of work was given out. More workers would be welcomed. The following donations were received:—Mrs R. Nichol, bed socks; Mrs face cloths; Mrs Dickison, socks (this lady has sent in her 102 nd pair); Mrs Dale, socks; Mrs North, Master King, Miss Duthie, and Miss Cameron, money. District collections amounting to £10 7s 9d were received. OVERSEAS CLUB. Things are going on splendidly in tho club room. The workers are busy making felt slippers for the soldiers in hospital, and a number of cases full of comforts.for the soldiers in the trenches are ready for despatch through the club. As soon- as these arc despatched, a fresh lot will be packed, and so tho work goes on unceasingly. More donations of Belgian goods are urgently needed to keep the workers busy. Pieces of material will be gladly received to make up dresses for the little children. Baby clothes, too, so long as they are clean, wiil be gladly received. Donations have been received from the East Tai'eri Ladies' Guild, Miss Watkins, Waiwera South, Mrs Harrison, .Mrs Faulkner, Forbury School (Standard III) ALLAITON RED CROSS. > The following artioles wero sent in by the Allanton Red Cross during the past fortnight:—io suits pyjamas, 6 pairs socks, 1 shirt, 3 service bags. The following were sent in by tho school children:—lo limb rests, 3 facecloths, 1 balaclava. MOMONA RED CROSS SOCIETY. The following goods were sent to Dunedin Centre this -week:—6 underpants, 6 body belts, 7 fomentation cloths, 13 binders, 1 shirt, 3 pair bed socks; 9 pair day sooks, 2 balaclavas, 15 pillow slips, 12 roller bandag.ee'7^u,its Pyi amas > 18 limb rests, and parcel ol Belgian clothing. School children- 2 pairs cuffs, 1 scarf. TAIERI WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION. At the usual meeting yesterday a' box containing the following articles was packed and sent to tile Early Settlers' Hall:—3 shirts, 34 service bags, 7 suits pyjamas, 21 handkerchiefs, 3 tea towels, 4 holdalls, 14 Ppirs socks, and 4 balaclavas. The sum of £10 was added to the usual £5 contribution in aid of the Belgian Fund, a special appeal having been received in this matter. It was resolved to undertake the catering at tho Tai'eri Collie Club's , trial for patriotic purposes. JOTTINGS. Eight local military police are leaving for the north on Monday for service in Trentham.
