Tho manager of the W.iihi Reefs-Gigantic Consolidated, reports a> follows, under date April 17:-'"Wβ have penetrated the new rauf 50 feet; the quart/, shows more dark mineral and is well defined. Assay tests at 30 feet show improving values; the quartz is free from any imilloeky formations, and is certainly a fine-looking reef body. The proportion of gold to silver in the assay tests ia high, and we havo not up to tho present boon in a position to have a- thorough sampling of the reef throughout, the quartz being of such extent that regular and exhaustive sampling needs to bo undertaken in order to get the truo values of tho reef as a whole. It is satisfactory to know that every sample token so far has given values, and these aro taken only at intervals. The quartz broken from other parts of the reef may be of much higher graded I am, therefore, stacking all quartz broken in readiness for sampling as soon as ire a.ro in a. position to make regular daily tests. In the mean time we a.ro cross-cutting west through the reef, and tho last test taken is an improvement cm previous ones."
