Tho Rosamond- will sail on Friday for Wellington, with a full cargo o£ general xnercluuidise. The coastal steamer Kotaro arrived here yesterday from liniaru. She will sail today for Invercargiil and ltiverton. 'JL'ho Kowhai arrived hero yesterday afternoon from Groymouth and Lytteiton. She ' will sail to-day for Tirnaru and Wellington. Tho Tarawera will leavo Lytteiton to-day, and is due here on Friday. Tho vessel :s timed to sail tho same, day for Auckland, via ports. ■ The (Storm has now resumed her running, and is duo here on Friday morning, yhe will load cargo for Timaru, Lytteiton, and "W.inganui. Tho Monowai reached Dunedin yesterday morning. fcjho is discharging to-day, and will probably go to Port Chalmers tomorrow, wiicro she will bo laid up till full supplies of coal aro to hand Cable advice received from London states that tho Armagh is a cargo vessel of ~ about J.2,ooo'tons gross register,' and has boon specially built for a certain trade, but _it is almost suro that sho will not enter tho scrvico until normal conditions again prevail.
A Press Association message from Auckstates that a stearher which was ex■•ftected to sail yesterday for southern ports would take the following passengers for Dunedin:—Misses Sail, .Walters, Jagger, Clark, Symon, Mesdamcs Bridgcman, Baird, Burrell, Messrs Brittendcn, Qiiinn. Tho Luckenbach Steamship Line (says an Australian exchange) evidently intends making a firm effort to play a. big part in tho trade between America and Now Zealand and Australian ports, judging by news received at Sydney. Tho information is to tho effect that orders for no less than 11 vessels havo already been placed with prominent American shipbuilding firms, and tho wholo lot will bo turned out before tho end of 1918. Somo of tho craft will bo of 15,0(30 tons register, and tho whole lot will bo of high speed and well provided for in tho way of modern facilities for all purposes, but especially the prompt and expeditious handling of all lines of cargo. Tho names for the 11 vosses havo not yet hocn allottod, excepting in tho caso of tho first three, which will be ready for servico bv the end of tho year at, latest. Tho fir?t of this trio will bo known as tho K. I. ! Luckpnbach. tho second M. E. Luckenbach, and third and largest Walter E. Luckenbach. .
