CHARGES AGAINST NATIVES. A PECULIAR VERDICT T United Pbbsb AssootatiohJ -,t HAMILTON, April 21. After a retirement of about sk hours and- f a-half in all, the jury returned the following verdict in connection with tho charge of , perjury against Tioke:—The jury unam A mously finds that the prisoner vas wrong in making the statement which he did on oath—namely, that Constable Skinner fired the first shot. The jury desires to exoner "' ate absolutely Constable Skinner from thi.' charge; but, owing to the amount of excite ment which was at that time rampant, both f , among Europeans aiid Natives, it has doubta ~ whether the prisoner made the statement j knowing it to be false. The jury, therefore; 1 having this doubt, gives him the benefit, and hnds him not guilty.
