Sir Douglas Haig reports .that he gained ground yesterday evening in the neighbourhood of Villers-Guislain (St. QuentinCamibrai sector). LONDON, .April 21. (Received April 22, at 5.5 p.m.) Sir Douglas Haig reports :—There has been only mutual artillery work at a number of places on the front. (Received April 22, at 5.5 p.m.) Sir Douglas Haig reports:—After sharp fighting wo captured the -village of Gonnelieu. We repulsed an attempted raid in the neighbourhood of Fauquissart. There was reciprocal artillery work at a number of places. LONDON, April 22. (Received April 23, at 0.45 a.m.) Sir Douglas Haig reports:—The enemy's attempt to recover Gonnelieu was unsuccessful. Our artillery killed many of the attackers. We made progress on the north bank of the Scarpe eastward of Fampaux. We also advanced our line south-west of Lens. Counter-attacks were repulsed.
