SAFEGUARDING MORALITY
(Peb Ukited Press Association.) ■WELLINGTON.. April 19. A confereneo convened by the New Zealand Catholic Federation was held last evening to consider matters in connection with the film censorship. The following resolutions were passed :■ —" This conference of delegates from local governing bodies, educational authorities, and organisations concerned with tho social welfare of the dominion, desires to thank tho Government for placing on the Statute Book the Act under which all kincmatograph films are subject to tho revision of the official oensor."
" This conference is of the opinion that as a right of appeal against the decision o£ the censor is given by tho law to Iho picture film proprietors, an equal right should be given to some body representing all sections of tho public." ".That the Government bo requested to legislate and amend " Tho Kinematograph. Film Censorship Act, 1916, in the direction above indicated, also to amend the ' Indecent Offensivo Publications Act' with a view to giving tho police or municipal authorities power to prevent tho display of posters and tho publication of advertisements which, while not actually immoral or itidccent, are of an offensive or demoralising tendency."
