ALLEGED PERJURY
CHARGES AGATNST NATIVES. - (Peb United Press Association.) HAMILTON, April 18. *■ Dunne the hearing of the perjury charges against Natives in the Supreme' Court today an aged Maori named Paul Kingi, who, one of the witnesses for the Crown alleged, fired the first shot at Rua's pa on '. April 2, 1916, mado a statement in denial., Ho said his left nrm was now useless as the' result of a shot fired by the police. Under cross-examination. ho admitted having signed a letter to the Governor stating that if an attempt was made to arrest Ruaa shot would bo fired. Witness said lie signed it because ho wanted to communicate with his friend the Governor because ho'might have given some good advico. Witness paid lie was at the battle of - Orakau, but did not, participate in it Hβ denied fighting for To Kooti.
