QUEEN'S THEATRE

A radical change of programme was made at the Queen's lueatre yesterday, and much that is of a most attractive character is included in the new series. First, there is .'•The Madness of Helen," a film describing how people may sometimes bo misjudged" In the present instance V.Vginia Carltoii plays a very unselfish and noble part, but is misunderstood by the man who has. in a most promiscuous -way, come in contact w:th her. Ho (Dave Ashley) finds her being persecuted and beaten by villagers, and having- some remnant of chivalry left in him, he becomes interested in her. He pitys her, and "pity being akin to'love" tho stronger passion very soou supplants the weaker and makes it impossible for Ashley to leave Virginia.' And so it. goes on until certain indications make 'Wiley doubtful as to the girl's respectability. Ho believes her to be a. wanton, and there uro not wanting evidences that he is correct in his surmise. Ho becomes sick at heart at the destruction of tho exalted opinion he has formed of Virginia; is 'wracked with pain at finding his idol only clay, ami base clay at that, after all. But lie forms a wrong conclusion, and realises in tho end that this girl is puvc-minded, honest, and abovo -cproach. It is Virginia's sister who has caused all the trouble, but how that is brought about must bo seen to be understood. Other pictures shown are: , "Tho Honeymoon Car," u. comedy; anda Gaumont Graphic.
