GRAND THEATRE
"The Woman" was screened for. the first time yesterday at tho Grand Theatre. Tho story opens with an attempt by a group of politicians to obstruc£ legislation by blackening the personal character of Matthew Ktandish, the leader of the reformers. Those politicians learn that Standish has spent a night under peculiar conditions with some woman at a hotel, and tho dramatic intensity of the story hinges upon tho identity of this woman. Standish. hearing of the plot, endeavours to call tho woman on tho telephone with the object of putting her on her guard, but is unsuccessful in getting communication with her. The girl at tho exchange learns tho woman's identity, and the politicians try to intimidate tho exchange clerk in every "possible way, but she refuses to say what she knows. The denouement is a surprise. Tho drama is splendidly acted, the photography is excellent, and is well supported fix. several pictures of a varied, character.
