CONTROLLER TAKES IT OVER.
COMMITTEES OF ADVICE.
Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. . SYDNEY, March 6. (Received March 6, at 10.15 p.m.) The Shipping Controller has notified shipowners engaged in the Australian and New Zealand trade that it is his intention to take over coutrol of all tonnage engaged therein. It is understood that this step is taken to ensure tho most economical and advantageous use. The owners retain • the management, and an owners' committee will collaborate with the Controller with regard to the disposition of the ships. If the Controller transfers any vessels to employment with countries nearest to the United Kingdom the committee will advise as to the best means of re-arranging a programme for the vessels .eft in the Australian and New Zealand trade. The programme for homeward loading from Australasia should be placed in the hands of a central committee of agents; possibly it will be entrusted to the two committees now administering the programme for refrigerated tonnage. Similar action respecting other trades is under consideration, and will be put into operation as soon as possible.
BELGIUM'S FATE. ANNEXATION BY GERMANY. LONDON, March 5. Germany has divided Belgium into two provinces—Flemish and Walloon. Brussels and Namur are to be respective capitals of these provinces. AMSTERDAM, March 5. Belgium remains under a GovernorGeneral. The two new provinces will havo a status similar to Poland. The Cologne Gazette says the step will prove Germany's best intentions towards the Flemish, and adds: " This is now annexation "
