SITTING- AT OAMApXT. Tho First Otago Military Service Board (Messrs H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., chairman, H D. 8011, and E. Kellett) sat yesterday at Oamaru, where some 29 appeals, including a number of adjourned cases, were dealt with. RAILWAY EJOPLOYEES. Tho General Manager of Railways appealed in respect of Charles Hubbard (fireman and cleaner, Kurow). Mr Bowles,, for tho department, said that Hubbard was in the trained section. They had vacancies for 180 cleaners at present. Hubbard's caso would come under tho general scheme. Captain J?reo said tho man had been notified to parade for military examination, and had not done so. Mr Bowles undertook to point out to him that ho must do so without delay. Tho caso was adjourned to tho first Dunedm sitting in April, to bo taken with others, A PRINTER. The adjourned appeal of James H. Cunningham on behalf of his son, Alfred Cun niugham (printer), was again called. —Captain Free said that the only difficulty seemed to be tho lifting of tho formes, anc if tho business was any good at all it would support tho expense of paying a strong boy to do that. The real trouble seemed to be tho confirmed objection of tho appellant to military service. Tho appellant, on being examined, said im son was necessary to tho business. The board pointed out that in tho ch--cumstaacoa of tho war many things had to be dono that were not altogether to one's liking. The case was adjourned pending- a report from the National Efficiency Board, to wbich it was referred.
