SUBMARINE CAMPAIGN
TORPEDOED ITALIAN TRANSPORT. GALLANT SERBIAN OFFICERS. Router's Telegrams. ROME, February 28. Amongst those lost on the torpedoed Italian transport Minas were some Serbians, General Goikovich, and three colonels. They refused to leave the vessel, shouting : " Soldiers first."
DUTCH VICTIMS. ~ THREE COUNTED AS LOST. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Reutcr. LONDON, February 28. The Dutch vessels Bandoeng, Eemland, and Za-andjik, three of the seven which left Falmouth on Thursday, February 22, and were., attacked by a German submarine, are now regarded as lost.
A GERMAN SUGGESTION. VERY TRANSPARENT. Router's Telegrams. AMSTERDAM, February 28. (Received March 1, at 7 p.m.) The German Legation has informed the Dutch Government that Germany is willing to place German ships at Holland's disposal during the war as compensation forj the seven that were, torpedoed, on the understanding that Holland -will negotiate for the eventual purchase of the vessels after the war.
THE INSURANCES. GERMAN UNDERWRITERS HIT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. AMSTERDAM, February 28. The seven Dutch steamers recently torpedoed were insured in Holland, chiefly by German underwriters, at 80 <mineas per £100. ' i ° English underwriters had quoted a 10 guineas ( ?) per £100 war risk! from Falmouth to Holland, but the owners declined the offer.
