FIRE AT PONGAROA.

BOARDING-HOUSE DESTROYED

PAHIATUA, January 30. Brcnton's boarding-house at Pongaroa, consisting of 25 rooms, was destroyed by fire shortly after midnight. The fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen. There wero a good number of boarders in tli3 house. Tho proprietress was absent at Pahiatua. Tho insurances, including that on the billiard room, which was saved, total £575. The loss is heavy.
