Waihi, Ashbuiton, Wellington, Stratford, Palmfcr stori Xoith, Thames, and Southland Boards wiote endorsing the protest against tho amended regulations under the Nurses Registration Act. —Received Tho Minister of Pub'ic Health wrote as to tho Niuses Registiation Act. that ho regretted the board taw lit to object to the amendments made and gazetted. The amendment specially objected to was infolded simply to emphis'so and strengthen the b\-la\. which existed in most wellgovvned hospitals, and was not specially intioduced on account of the recent action of the boTd. On tho contrary tho need of the regulation arose out of tho acts of f-eveial boards. The elimination of outride influence in the selection of suitable women for tia'ning as nurses would tend to uphold the high st mdard now existent, and would encHngered if the mptron*, who were primarlv responsible for tho training of nurses, and who were best qualified to judsre as to snitabilitv, were not entniGted with the now or of selection. As a probationer \wthin the peiiod of three months' trial could scarcely come under the heading of "stair." the members of boards could noi 1>? exnected to have individual knowledge of their characters and canabiTHcs lie saw no occasion to have an amendment made bv deleting the latter part of clause 2.--Rcerived. < Tho St. John Ambulance Association wrote applying for a grant.—A giant of £25 was made.
