A SHIRKER FINED. (Pub United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, lytay 5. A. young man named William Templeton Horno was fined 40s and costs to-day for failing to train for military service. Ho said that as his father was an American, he was a citizen of America, but counsel pointed out that Horno was born in a British country, to which ho was. under an obligation. The defendant was a well-known leader in the early anti-military movement. The Magistrate said when Horno wanted a vote, as ho had done, ho becamo British, but wthen it camo to'a question of bearing arms he becamo an American. Richard Horno, who was charged with a similar offence, was dealt with in tho same way.
