RECRUITING PROBLEM
BILL FOR GENERAL COMPULSION
HARD LOGIC OF EVENTS.
LONDON, May 1. The Daily Chronicle states that it is probable that Mr Asquith will introduce into Parliament on Tuesday a Bill providing for general compulsion. "This step has beeji made inevitable," adds the paper, "by the hard logic of events, however much we may dislike it. Therefore, let the Government cease temporising and face realities. A suspensory clause for the conscription of married men will no longer meet the case."
