Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. HOBART, April 13. (Received April 13, at 11.55 pan. ) The Tasmaniaji Ministry has resigned, and Mr Lee has been cominisswned to form a Cabinet.
[Mr Leo -was Premier of the Ministry which was supplanted (owing to the defection to the Labour ranks, temporarily,' of Mr Whitsitt, an Independent .member, who held the balance of power) by the Earle (Labour) Government. The parties being practically equal, with . Mr Whitsitt as- the balancing member again, the latter entered into negotiations to form a Coalition Government, with himself as Premier. His proposals wero declined by Mr Earle, who said the lines of cleavage between the two parties were too great to permit of a' Coalition Ministry, and resigned. Mr Lee has now been entrusted with "the task of forming a Cabinet. The situation is unique, in that this is the third Parliament in which the voting power of tho two parties was practically equal. On. the present occasion the elections were practically fought on the question of the early closing of hotels, and still the. balance of' power was unchanged.]'
