ANZAC DAY

(Pee United Press Association.) v CHRISTCHTJRGH, April 12. The Prime Minister is in communication with the Canterbury Jockey Club regarding racing on Anzac Day.

The Mayor (Mr J. J. Clark) held a meeting yesterday with the representatives of the Olergy Committee of the Patriotic Association to doeeuss Anzac Day. Arrangements are to be made for a parade of returned men, who will meet at 2.30 p.m., and after marching through town will line up at the Town Hall, where a meeting lasting half an hour will be held, and tribute paid by the speakers to the men who have fallen. "The Last Post" will then be sounded, and a firing salute given. In the evening , a service will be held in a hall, at which the clergy of all denominations will take part. •

In connection with the Auckland carnival in aid of the Patriotic Fund, held last year, a public-spirited resident of Russell presented to tho fund a motor launoh, which was disposed of by art union fjor £500, and was won by Mr E. P. Dansey, of Rotorua. Mr Dansey has handed over tho vessel to the Auckland Patriotic and War Relief Association to bo disposed of again (says the Herald). The launch is now in Auckland Harbour, and has been estimated by an expert to be excellent value for £300. Every home should keep WOLFE'S SCHNAPPS—tho domestic safeguard.
