MINING.
The manager of the Golden Belt gold mine, Nevesville, telegraphed at the end of lfl.st week, stating- th&t Jig imel obtciiiiod a return of bullion valued at £1030 from 130 tons of ore. This yield is from the plates only. The report- a: the manager of the Watchman mine for tho week ended tho Ist inst. states that the ore crushed has been of barely payable grade, owing to work out better stones being stopped while filling operations were in progress. This work is about finished, and stoping will be resumed at once. Most of the ore won during the week has been obtained from the stopes north and south of No. 8 riee. In tho south faco the reef is up so 3ft in width, the Values being confined to about Ift in width on the hanging-wall side. Going north tho reef is 2ft 6in wide, and of good grade. Tho secretary of the Nokomai Hydraulic Sluicing Company reports that No. 2 had finished tho stripping off of the top material to a depth of 20ft, and the elevating was resumed on Saturday.' No. 3 did not start sluicing till Saturday morning, as tho tailings required a good blowing. There is plenty of water at present.
