THE RED CROSS.

The Guild of the Red Cross met for the first time yesterday. The committee reports a very good attendance. The associates have returned from their holidays with unbounded energy, fully determined thai this year will see a record of work dono for our wounded boys. Though many are working, through the kindness and courtesy of the New "Zealand Express Compny, which has lent a large and most suitable room, there are places for many more, and all workers will bo most heartily welcome. If Friday (which is the guild day) is not convenient, members will be welcome any other day of the week, either morning or afternoon. It is to be romcmberod that the object of the Red Cross is to help the sick and suffering, and the executive appeals to every woman in Otago to take part in this good work Donations of money or any material suitable for Red Cross work will bo most gratefully received. 'Jlie committee thanks the following for donations Miss Low, 2 pairs socks, 1 pair socks; Mrs Ferguson, 1 pair bed socks, old linen; Mrs CL R. Chapman, 1 pair bed socks; Mrs Mill, 12 face cloths; Butterwoi'th Bros., matting; Mrs Fergus. 1 bolt mosquito netting; the Misses Scott, old linen; Miss Belle Samson,, 1 pair bed socks; Miss W. Hislop, 2 pairs socks, 2 pairs bed socks; Mrs Ewing, 5 bandages, 5 face cloths; Mrs G- Roberts, 5 manytail bandages, 3 pairs bod soclcs; Miss E. Roberts, 1 pair socks; Miss Hutchison, 10 fomentations; Miss Fisher, 8 eye handages; balance Mrs Bnttcrworth's garden party, 2s 6d; Mrs G. M'Lean, £1 Is; Miss Rattray, £2. The committee desires to acknowledge with sincere thanks contributions from the following branches:—lnvercargill, Roslyn and ICaiitorai, Waropi, Morninffton, Oamaru, Palmerston, and Waikouaiti. Messrs Butterworth Bros, have given cutting to the value of £10 to the committee. ANDERSON BAY RED CROSS. A largo quantity of finished work was brought to the depot on Tuesday, including socks, bed socks, roller bandages, manytail bandages, balaclavas and face cloths. The following are thanked for donations: Mrs M'Lennan, balaclavas; Mrs R. Nichol and Mrs North, face cloths; Mrs A. LeeSmith, service bags; Mrs <T. White, ward shoes; Mrs Cameron and Mrs Rings, money. The balance of the January district collection, amounting tr> £2 10s 6d. was handed in.
