' The Finanoe Minister informed a reporter - to-day that the increase in the Consolidated • Revenue for the 10 months ended January *• 31, 1916, over the 10 months of the previous year was £924-,260. For the 12 months ended January 31, 1916, the increase •j in revenue by comparison with the prevous year was £906,493. For the month r of January the increaso in revenue over • January. 1915, w.ia £129,740. Sir Joseph Wan) said he was not ablo tos day to say anything about tho expenditure, as he had no returns vet, but as scon as these were availablo he would si'.pply tho '■ figures. So far as the revenue was con- '■ corned, tho increa.se was eminently satisfactory, and if the general consolidated expenditure had been kept down the 'country was I* on its way to a very satisfactory condition as far as public finance was ooncerned.
