STUPENDOUS FIRE AT BERGEN

A fire at Bergen raged all night long, spreading to 20 distinct quarters in the town, and destroying among other property the Central Telephone Exchange, four hotels, and three schools. Many thousands of people are homeless. (Received Jan. 17, at 8.35 p.m.) A hurricane is blowing. Many buildings ■were blown up to check the spread of the fire. The damage is estimated at . £2,750,000.
