ORGAN RECITAL

Mr and Mrs Ernest Firth assisted at tho Central Mission services in the Octagon Hall yesterday. Mr Hrth is organist of the Durham Street Church, Christchuroli, and his wife is a contralto soloist in great favour with Christchurch audiences. The Rev. C. Eaton conducted the services, and in the evening gave a stirHng and interesting address on "A Basket of Summer Emit." The hail was crowded. Mr Firtb presided at the organ, and during the services played "A Song of Melody" {Clegg) and "Christmas Greetings" (Clegg). Mrs Filth gave a beautiful rendering of the hymn "Abide with Me." Tho organ recital which followed yas largely attended. Mr Firth played the overture "Morandi," and as a solo "At Evening" (Dudley Buck). Mrs Firth delighted tho audience with three solos—"He was Despised," "Three Fishers," and "The Lord is Mindful of all His Works." The Rev. Wesley Bratt recited "The Last Token," and Mr G. Proctor sang "The Last Milestone." To-night tho visitors will give a grand song recital in the Octagon Hall in aid cf the Central Mission, when the full programme will be given by them, Mrs Firth singing no less than 12 solos, all of whioh are well known. A musical treat is in store for those who attend. Mr Firth will be tho accompanist, and will also give some organ solos. Popular prices of admission are to be charged, and a large audience is anticipated.
