DAMAGE AT RABAUL. Prwi Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, January 14. Senator Pearce has been advised that an earthquake occurred, at Rabaul on January 4, and was very severe. Numerous landslides occurred, and some houses were shaken down at Toma. At Rabaul the water in the harbour rose 10ft, and numbers of buildings and the jetty were badly strained. ANOTHER RECORD. SYDNEY, January 14. The seismographs at Riverview recorded an earthquake of great intensity 500 miles north-east of Darwin. The shock was the severest yet experienced by the Riverview instruments.
