SOUTH WALES MINERS' OPPOSITION.

A STRIKE THREATENED. LONDON, Jannary 13. (Received Jan. 13, at 11.50 p.m.) The South Wales miners decided that the only method to effectively oppose compulsion would be by a national strike, after a ballot of all Bri» tish miners. Thepe is no doubt that the National Conference of Miners to>day will pass an acadeiric resolution against compulsion, since the delegates do not vote according to their personal opinions, but the decision of the district conference is not likely to show a majority in favour of a national "down tools" policy. The vote of the South Wales Federation is regarded as bluff, particularly in view of the Merthyr election.
