Major Gar. ] dener will become brigade major. >,4 Mr Harold G-oggin, for 12 yoara assistant- | secretary to the New Zealand Metropolitan, 'i Canterbury Park, and Now Brighton Trot- 4 ting Clubs, has enlisted with the Twelfth 'i Reinforcements. £ Tho Greymouth Borough Council has writ- f ten to the Woolston Borough Council saying that it views with astonishment thomun- *'• ber of persons resident in this dominion who are not prepared to act in any capacity 1 whatever in connection with the war, and ' asking the Woolston Council to co-operato ' with them in bringing pressure to hear on the Government to publish tho names of tho 34,000 unwilling men. The Mayor stated that the letter suggested a distinct breach of faith, and moved that tho cleric writo to the Prime Minister strongly condemning ' the proposal. Tho motion was earned. f
