THE MEW ZEALAND V.C.
(FBOJI 008 OWK Coebespondknt.) LONDON, October 22. Corporal C. Bassett, V.C., of the New Zealand Engineers, is how in tliis country and spending his furlough at Leicester. " He is an Auckland man by birth, and previous to the war was engaged in the Newmarket branch of the National Bank of New Zealand. Messrs ,Pathe, Freres, who are engaged •in making a New Zealand war film, were successful in adding another incident this morning. It seems that when 'their representative called at the record office he was : informed that Corporal Bassett, V.C., and 'Sergeant Bennett (Wanganui), and Sergeant Tilsley (Auckland), two D.C.M, men, - ■were on the premises. A little plot was immediately hatched. Pathe Ifreres' man went into Victoria street, and got . his camera at' work while a friend told the three New Zealanders that they were to walk down the steps, as someone Wanted to ■ Isee them outside. Quite unconscious of what, W4S happening, Corporal Bassett and Sergeants Bennett and Tilsley wandered down the steps' into Victoria street, and then discovered that they had been kinematographed for the New Zealand film. .'
