DRAINAGE BOARD REPORTS.
The following are the principle clauses in/' the reports to be presented at the next meeting of the Drainage Board: — The Works Committee reports for the fortnight ended October 30, amongst other matters: Reticulation, Park Ward, St. KUda. Men are now engaged in cleaning out all the reticulation in this district, and this is the first clean it has had since completed. In doing so we find that the local authority, in the course of its road formation, had been compelled to metal over most of our manholes, they having been set at too low a level at the time of construction. The engineer suggests that as the work of cleaning is proceeded with here any other necessary alterations to the manholes to bring them to the permanent level be done, as ahiuried manhole.is as bad as none at all.
The Works Committee recommends that the public sewer through Paterson'a property, Kaikorai Valley, be constructed under the provisions of the board's statutory powers. Accounts amounting to £1274 5s lid were examined and passed for payment. The Finance Committee reports accounts amounting to £1274 ss' lid, examined and passed by the Works Committee on the sth day of November, 1915, were passed for payment. Accounts amounting to £111 8s 8d wore examined and passed for payment Since the last meeting of the committee the sum of £9142 Os Id has been paid into the credit of the board's aggregate fund; £8500 of this amount is purchase money for the board's debentures. The aggregate fund (credit) is £8359 3s 7d and the aggregate fund, No. 2 account (debit) £1439 3s 9d. The committee recommends that tho application of the Maori Hill Council for refund of rates_ paid in Maori Hill portion of the Kaikorai Valley be refused.
