ST. KILDA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The regular meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council, held last evening, was attended by the Mayor (Mr W. T. Miller street (east side), Do Carle street (south side), Scott street (south side) and Bav Viewroad to Ings's corner.—The engineer was authorised to proceed with the works enumerated. . , The bank balances were reported to stand as follow :-District fund account, £7334 (debit); special loan account, No. I, hdW (credit)- "epecial loan account, No. 3, £2654 (credit).; and drainage and sewerage account, £21? (credit). The Finance, General, Tramways., and Hall Committee's report recommending the payment of accounts amounting to about £ Tnc W report° P o C f 'the Works, Water, and Lighting Committee stated, with regard to an application by the Forbury Park Trottinn- Club for a crossing in Plunket street, that the street lie top-dressed and rolled, and the water removed from Victoria road; that the committee would inspect and report.— Adopted. The report of the committee, consisting of the whole of the council, set out that the matter of the tender for the quarry had been referred to a sub-committee to confer with the tenderer.. Consideration of a letter from the Drainage Board asking what work the council proposed to undertake during the next 12 months had been deferred. It was recommended that the council meet on Monday evening instead of Tuesday.—Adopted. Cr Dove drew -attention to the fact that the council was never invited to take any part in welcoming returned troops, and expressed the opinion that the council ought to bo recognised in connection with the holding of receptions.—Other members of the council spoke in the same strain, and the press was requested to ventilate tho matter.
