(Peb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 5. At the Police Court Thomas Francis Houlihan, second-hand dealer, charged with receiving stolen goods, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Notice of appeal was given. A man about 50, known as Dr P. P. F. Montague, was found at Awanui at 2 a.m. yesterday, shot dead. There was a mirror between his knees and a revolver in his hand. At the inquest a verdict of "Suicide while temporarily insane" was returned. The deceased was an Imperial army pensioner. He claimed to be the Marquis de Pinole. NAPIER, October 5. The Napier Borough Council proceeded in the Magistrate's Court to-day against Turnbull and Jones (electrical engineers) and two of their employees .on a charge of tampering with an electric light meter and tapping the city cmrent, which was thus obtained without payment. The defence was that the connection was made by a careless employee. The evidence for the prosecution occupied all day, and the case was adjourned till to-morrow.
