PROFESSOR VON ZEDLITZ
RESIGNATION PROBABLE.

WELLINGTON, October 4. ■ At'an informal meeting of members of the Victoria College Council, attended by Hesaite Fleming, Ferguson,' Aitkcn, Morton, Morrison, Wright, Atkinson, Latrobe, the Rev. W. Evans, and Professors Adamson and Brown, the subject of Professor' '; yon Zedlitz's resignation was considered. ' , . , It was decided that a properly convened meeting be held on Saturday to consider the following motion:— " That in deference to the repeated request, bv "Professor yon,, Zedlitz that he be relieved of his duties, his resignation be a<> ccpted with deep regret, and that he be paid six months' salary in terms of his contract, and that this council do hereby place on record its appreciation of the high standard .which has marked his teaching and influence during nearly 14- years of faithful service to this college, and its appreciation of the honourable spirit in which the professor has discharged his duties both .before and since the outbreak of the. war, and, ; further, that this council do -express its regret that Professor von Zedlitz should have "been'compelled to insist on his resignation. 'against the definite wishes of the ;Victoria College Council, and of his students and against the best interests of tin college;" ' ' " ■
