The Wimmera is due here to-day from r Melbourne, via Wellington and Lyttelton, ■, and will sail on Thursday for Melbourne, i via Bhiff. - I,' The Matatua went down to Port Ghal- - mers yesterday afternoon to commence her V homeward loading, and will sail on Friday '( morning for Oamaru, Napier, and Sydney. * Captain D. Cameron, late of. the Corinna, t' has been appointed temporary head j,; wharfinger at Dunedin for the, Union Comf pariy in place of Captain Ross, who has taken up a similar position at Westport. The Kumara will go down to Port Chal- / mers this afternoon to take in Home cargo. She is expected to leave on Friday evening for Lyttelton, Nelson, Wellington, Wanganui, Waitara, and Auckland, her final de- '/ parture being takeii from the last-named { port about the middle of the month. , The New Zealand Shipping Company's mail steamer Ruapehu left London at the j end of last week for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin./ In accordance with the company's new programme, she will make Auckland l her first port, and is due there about November 7. The Turakina, the mail steamer next ahead of her, ( is due about October 7. , The'local office of the Tyser line has been *•; advised that the chartered steamer Aeon, i f which left New York on August 18, via Panama, is due at Lyttelton on Saturday. 1 , From Lyttelton the Aeon will come to Dunedin, and will- then proceed to Australia for final discharge. She is due here V early next week. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line's steamer Port Albany, which has been fixed 1" ■ to load for Home at various New Zealand ports, jras to have left Newcastle for Auckt land on September 14, but apparently has - met with some delay. She is expected to. arrive at Auckland some time this week, and after loading there will come south, though her programme has not yet been announoed.
THE HEBBURN.
j He Huddarfc-Parker Company's new steamor Hebburn.on her maiden voyage, is due here tomorrow with a cargo of timber V from Bunbury. She is bringing considerably , over 400,000 ft, and it is understood that the bulk of it, which will be discharged at Port Chalmers, is consigned to the Railway Department. The vessel has been taken over by Messrs G. H. Scales (Limited) on a time charter, and from this port she will proceed .to Lyttelton, Wellington, and v . Auokland. The Hebburn will undertake 5 two further journeys in the intercolonial service,' and will then load wool in New Zealand for London. She should leave here about Saturday. ' s
