CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.
Following- aro tiho main items in the reports to be submitted to the City Council at its meeting on Wednesday evening:— Tho General Committee rc«xv|iuiitncls that applications be invited for the position ot motor inspector, whose duties suail bo to carry out tho provisions oi all by-laws of tho council relating to motor cars, motor cycles, and motor delivery vans. The Tramways 'Committee recommends that the application by the Otago Soldiers and Dependents' Wclhire Committee for a free pass for Mr F. G. Gumming be granted. At the present time Mr Gumming is doing a great deal ot work in connection with making reports on tho dependents of •oldiers who have gone to the front, and naturally he is called upon to travel about the city a great deal. ' The Finance Committee recommends that the request submitted by deputation from the Otago Expansion for a continuance of the council's contribution to the league's funds be not granted. An application from the Dunedin Competitions Society for a grant in aid of its funds has been declined.
