A USE FOR SINEWS. BASIS FOR HIGH EXPLOSIVES. MELBOURNE, July 11. (Received July 11, at 4 p.m.) Alfred Strauss was for years a heavy buyer of sinews from the legs of sheep and cattle, which were shipped to Germany supposedly for the making of glue. It has now been discovered that they were used as the basis of nitro-glycerine and other high explosives. ■ [In February Alfred Strauss, who was charged with trading with the enemy, did not answer to his bail, and his bond of £1000 was estreated and a warrant issued for his arrest.]
